Black Nostalgia

I was in Ross the other day with my Mother and came across these sneakers.  What a blast from the past!  I was instantly transported back to third grade when L.A. Gears and British Knights were all the rage.  I had four pair that were the shiznit if I do say so myself.  I had some plain white ones, some hot pink and limes green Gears,  some magenta, black, and white ones, and even the pump up pair in the fifth grade.  Am I showing my age?  I was almost tempted to buy them just for old times sake, but came to my senses as I have nothing that would match this color combo they got going on here.  Besides, they're not the best pair of L.A. Gears I've ever seen.  I just thought it was kind of cool to see a brand that was pretty significant to me when I was in Elementary School.  But like snap bracelets and Gigapets, the L.A. Gears faded to the background and people virtually forgot about them.  Anywho, enough about my weekend discovery.

I've been trying to work on my vision board, but the magazines I had to use hasn't yielded much.  I think I might have to find a way to collect more relevant magazines.  Living and Town and Country just aren't my cup of tea.  I didn't even find much in the Essence mags, although I can't say I'm too surprised there.  I never really liked Essence Magazine.  It always seems so old fogeyish.  I've always wanted to create a magazine for Black women between the ages of 23-35 or so.  With things and topics more relevant to us.  Also a teen magazine geared towards Black girls.  Currently this does not exist outside of Right On and Sister to Sister...and that doesn't count.  I remember finding one magazine similar when I was a Teen and I NEVER saw a follow up issue.  It disappeared much like the L.A. Gears.  I think a consistant mag would be great.  Maybe one day I'll get to work on that.  But how much do people even still buy and read magazines these days?

I start my PD training next week which I'm excited for.  My diet can go back to some sort of normalcy.  And the first thing I want is some bacon cheese fries from Outback.  I haven't been able to eat potatoes in forever and they are my favorite food.

In other news, I did write a couple more articles in trying to make the most and best of a seemingly crappy situation.  We'll see if my efforts produce anything.  Check them out below:

I'm out!  Be easy breezies!
